Dr. Feldenkrais trusted that the power for learning exists in everyone. He did create a hands on component initially but his main interest was to help you 'learn how to learn by participating in Awareness - Movement lessons where you attend deeply to what you are doing while you are doing. With the belief that we first learned through sensing differences in our actions and that once recorded in our brains we created new synapses, benefits go beyond the physical movements, leading to growth and development in all areas of our bodymind.

BonnieK's initial experience was with the Awareness Through Movement® lessons which were different than yoga, tai chi or any dance modality she had experienced by 1980.  After her training she listened daily to the recordings available from Feldenkrais' public workshops where he talked his stories and philosophies over and over.  She  facilitates your learning from her understanding and experience in a way you can best gain the most benefits from this method that asks you to heighten your awareness and develop the ability to choose and make shifts in action so you or your child, can continue to become clearer about your ability to take charge of your own health and well-being.

"Bonnie has been my main Feldenkrais teacher for the past 10 or 11 years.  I've participated in her Monday night class religiously for that time and have also taken all of the workshops she offers, some more than once, as well as numerous private sessions.  What I value about Bonnie is her curiosity, her exploratory style, and the wisdom she gained from training with Moshe Feldenkrais directly.  It took me many years to recognize the truth of what Bonnie was sharing:  that the Feldenkrais method is not at all about doing repetitive movements for exercise, but is a unique experiential learning that involves doing minuscule, slow movements with awareness, to provide your brain with alternative suggestions for how to move, simply, effortlessly, even pleasurably.  Since the Feldenkrais method is so different from anything most people are used to, most people trying it, including myself, fall into their habitual ways of moving, trying to "get it right" or do "it well".  It is counterintuitive to recognize in an Awareness through Movement class that "achieving" the movement itself has absolutely no value whatsoever.  Bonnie is very good at reminding people that it is the process of slowing down, doing smaller and smaller movements, and training your awareness to notice differences that the real improvement happens."
